So Long, Stephen.

Last night saw the final episode of The Colbert Report on Comedy Central. After nine years of making the post-Daily Show slot one of the prime destinations for biting political commentary (a situation I don't expect to change with Larry Wilmore's The Nightly Show), it couldn't help but feel a little bittersweet. And while host Stephen Colbert is headed to CBS to take over The Late Show next year to step into David Letterman's sizable shoes, the fact that we'll likely never see the character "Stephen Colbert," played to perfection over the past decade-and-change, still feels like a loss (though I'm sure Colbert is happy as a clam that he can finally be himself).
