Bigot Bashes Batman's Buddy

Back in December when I posted about the Right Wing tumult over the DC Comics storyline in which Batman selected the Algerian Muslim "Nightrunner" to serve as one of his corps of international "Batmen," I linked to this ridiculous cartoon by anti-Muslim artist Bosch Fawstin, clearly throwing all subtlety to the wind in his condemnation of Batman's globalized worldview.

Fawstin (who I actually engaged in a lengthy message-board back-and-forth a few years back) has been pretty vociferous in his Muslim-bashing for awhile now, with his unintentionally hilarious "Pigman" character the de facto mouthpiece for his skewed sensibilities (formed, he says, from being raised Muslim...yikes!). Still, the fact that his rhetoric is so far around the bend, coupled with how seriously he seems to take himself makes for a rare bit of comedic alchemy, and it's something The Daily Show's Aasif Mandvi clearly glommed onto when he interviewed Fawstin for this segment on last night's episode:

Pigman?!?! That was hilarious.

That guy is clearly very lonely and very angry at the world.

THOSE are the types of people we should worry about.
